ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOUR SHIP POWER MANGEMENT SYSTEM AND AUTOMATION CONTROL IS DESIGNED, THERE IS NO ONE SYSTEM! VARIES BY THE PMS SET UP!
>> Incoming generator voltage, frequency, phase sequence has to match that of the running DG.
>> As soon as the engine has started, attained maximum speed, all startup checks are done and ready to be put on the load, put the engine on AUTO mode which will automatically sync and connect to the busbar.
>> However, for manual operation the sequence is as follows
>> Start the synchroscope!
> The synchroscope should turn slowly in clock wise direction! if it’s turns too fast, reduce the fuel control level provided on the synchro panel! This will reduce and if the speed is too low, increase the fuel.
> When the synchroscope is tuning clockwise at normal speed, it indicates both engines have matched their Voltage, frequency, Phase sequence! now it’s time to close the breaker of the incoming generator.
> It must be closed when the synchroscope is reading 12 o clock position! Just wait until its reading 11 o clock position, push close breaker button!
>> Now the breaker will close and load sharing will occur, increase the fuel supply knob on DG#3, which will start taking the load. In most of the ships I have worked, even in manual as soon as the engine is connected live the load on the system equivalises between the two automatically.
