The air filter filters the inlet air and removes dust particles and grit.. The blower impeller pressurizes the air.. The impeller is driven by the turbine and both these components are mounted on a common shaft and this combination is called the rotor. The exhaust gas gives its thermal energy and pressure to drive the rotor through the turbine whose blading is of the reaction type. A diaphragm mounted on the shaft separates the exhaust from the air side. Labyrinth seal fixed in the diaphragm prevents leakage of the gas to the air side and vice versa
