Procedure  for  cutting  off  a unit  of  the  engine

To  run  the  engine  with  one  unit  cut-off ,  and  assuming  that  the  unit’s  running  gear is  not  disturbed ,  is  as  follows:

• The particular  unit  fuel  pump roller will  be  lifted  off its cam  and  fuel  to  the  pump  cut off.
• The  hydraulic  connection  to  the  exhaust  valve  shut or  blanked  and  the  roller  lifted  off  the

*Cooling  oil  connection  to  and  from  the  piston  will  be  blanked  or  cut  off.

* The  indicator  cock  of  the  particular  unit  kept  open  to  reduce  the  back  pressure.

* Starting  air  connection  to  the  manifold  as  well as the  pilot  valve  on  distributor will be  blanked  or  cut  off

The  engine  speed should be  arranged  at  such  an RPM such  that  vibration  levels  are  not  severe  and the  scavenge  pressure   matches   with  the  T/C operation  avoiding  surge condition.
